After hitting a double and reaching third base on a wild pitch Seranthony Domínguez — the fourth Phillies pitcher of the night — Yuli Gurriel was tagged at home after dealing with Rhys Hoskins.

Retreat

The Astros extended their lead in the top of the eighth inning, thanks to a big hit Yordan Alvarez that allowed Altuve to score and sent Peña to second base after Hoskins threw the ball away at first base.

At your fingertips

Astros pitcher Ryan Pressly walked and Castellanos and Bryson Stott in the bottom of the eighth inning. Segura then hit a single to right field, allowing Castellanos to score and cut the deficit, 3-2.

Rejected!

Astros outfielder Trey Mancini came up clutch when it mattered most by taking an all-important third with Phillies runners on first and third.

Closing time

The Phillies battled until the very end, highlighted by a very strong ninth inning that made the Astros sweat.

What could have been

JT Realmuto was this close to potentially tie things up in the bottom of the ninth, but Chas McCormick had other plans. In the end, the home team failed to make a comeback and the result ended 3-2.
