A new chapter: Lewis Hamilton’s gift to Fernando Alonso after his incident at Spa

The historic rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in Formula 1 added a new episode last weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix. The two world champions were involved in an incident at Les Combes corner, which ended with the British car flying and out of competition. Meanwhile, the Spaniard was quick to blame Mercedes for the crash.

On the radio with his team, Fernando Alonso called “idiot” Lewis Hamilton and assured that “he only knows how to run when he comes out first”. The seven-time world champion took responsibility for the incident which sidelined him at Spa-Francorchamps, although he did not apologize to the Alpine driver. Recently, with the controversy still present, number 44 made a post on his social media and showed a photo of a gift for his former teammate at McLaren.

Hamilton and Alonso were teammates in the 2007 season

In the image, you can see a Mercedes cap, with the British driver’s signature, and an inscription that reads: “For Fernando”. It generated various reactions on social media and, while it’s unclear if Hamilton did it to send a hidden message to Alonso, it served to add fuel to the fire for fans.
