The historic rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in Formula 1 added a new episode last weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix. The two world champions were involved in an incident at Les Combes corner, which ended with the British car flying and out of competition. In the image, you can see a Mercedes cap, with the British driver’s signature, and an inscription that reads: “For Fernando”. It generated various reactions on social media and, while it’s unclear if Hamilton did it to send a hidden message to Alonso, it served to add fuel to the fire for fans.
After the race, Lewis Hamilton He tried to leave any kind of controversy behind him and said the clash with Alonso was his fault. “I just didn’t leave enough room and I paid the price. It was not intentional, it just happened”, he said in a dialogue with “Sky Sports”. In addition, he assured that his intention was to apologize to the Spanish pilot until what he hears what he said in the middle of the race.
After leaving the two in the second row, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso managed to pass Checo Pérez to stay together on the climb to the Kemmel straight.
