Alpha Tauri preview – Italy – Yuki: “I’ve never raced a real Formula 1 Grand Prix at Monza”

The Japanese driver from the Faenza team, Yuki Tsunoda, gives his impressions before the Italian GP, he has never been part of an appointment there. It will be a new challenge for him and he wants to do well for the team on his special home date. After Zanvoort they need him, things didn’t go well there and he hopes the Monza story will have a better ending. He knows he will have to serve his sentence in the starting position, but he hopes to finish the event well. Yuki explains what may be the key to ranking.

Yuki Tsunoda:

“After the team did a good job of improving the car in time for qualifying at Zandvoort, things didn’t work out in the race and then I had a problem with the differential which forced me to stop me. Now I’m just going to restart and focus on Monza, which is a special race for our team.“.

“Last year I couldn’t take part in the Italian Grand Prix, which means that I never raced a real Formula 1 Grand Prix at Monza.I really want to be able to race on what is another home circuit for us, after Imola. I’m excited, I know the team is too, so we have a good motivation for this weekend. For now, I don’t know how the car will adapt to this trackbut, as usual, we will work to make the most of it.”

“Draught is a big factor on this fast track and with these new cars the effect will be less than in the past. Because you can now follow another car more closely around the corners, it should still be possible to overtake, but it could get stuck in a DRS train, hopefully we’ll see everyone trying to get a wake in qualifying. How we handle this sticky situation could be the key to a good ranking.. Obviously, we are penalized in this race [debido a las cinco amonestaciones recibidas]but I like this track, so let’s see how it goes.”
