Are there no more Mexican technicians?
Manuel Lapuenteformer coach of the Mexican national team, spoke about the tricolor and the fact that Gerard Martino to be the current strategist of the Mexican team.
Lapuente explained in an interview with ESPN it’s amazing that the Mexican Football Federation did not put a Mexican coach, as if there were none who could be in charge, without discrediting Gerardo Martino at any time.
“Aren’t there any Mexican coaches? I don’t say bad things about Gerardo Martino. He’s a great coach, I know, I know him and I know his career, but isn’t there he not mexican coaches? You know better than me, don’t they no longer there? So why do we want a foreigner in our team? It’s not worth it, I say it’s not ‘t worth it. With all due respect to foreigners, I’m not chauvinistic and I never will be, but the Mexican team a Mexican should wear it,” explained the former El Tri coach.
Lapuente had the opportunity to lead Mexico in one of the most memorable teams in history, due to his performances and good football, as he did in France 1998.
Once again, Manuel Lapuente reiterated that the important thing is that the people of the Federation make the right decisions, but now that Martino is here, we have to support him and give him the strength to face the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
“Martino is a great coach. If he’s already there, we have to give him a chance and give him strength,” Lapuente said.
