Aubameyang has a cracked jaw, but that shouldn’t complicate his move to Chelsea
BARCELONA – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang suffered a broken jaw during a robbery at his home on Monday, but sources have told ESPN the injury to the still-Barcelona striker is unlikely to affect his move to Chelsea.
Barca expected to complete the deal with the Londoners on Tuesday but the two clubs still have some differences and today they will have another meeting to try to bring the positions closer.
For his part, the striker is waiting and recovering from the fright after last Monday a gang of thieves broke into his house armed with guns and iron bars.
From Barcelona it has been assured that neither Aubameyang nor his wife, who were handcuffed during the robbery with their children also inside the house, suffered serious injuries, but sources have confirmed to ESPN that the The striker has a cracked jaw that will keep him away from the pitch for around three weeks.
It was initially thought that Aubameyang’s injury could jeopardize his move to Chelsea, but sources have told ESPN the clubs are still negotiating with the idea of reaching an agreement.
Barca initially wanted around 25 million euros, but Chelsea are unwilling to exceed 20 for a player who arrived at Camp Nou free of charge from Arsenal last January.
The Catalan club are still hoping to reach a transfer deal, but following Aubameyang’s injury they are also weighing the possibility of the striker joining Chelsea on loan.
Xavi Hernández would be in favor of keeping Aubameyang in its squad but the club must release him to reduce the wage bill and be able to undertake other operations before the market closes on the 1st.
In this sense, Barca continue to work on signing Marcos Alonso and a right-back.
