Barranquilla “with a track” for the Formula 1 Caribbean Grand Prix? | Tendencies
What until a few months ago seemed like a crazy idea, is starting to take shape every time. Barranquilla could organize a Formula 1 race which, according to the office of the mayor of this city, would be called “Caribbean Grand Prix”..

According to Mayor Jaime Pumarejo, the project is “better and better” and all previous steps for the city’s candidacy for this race have been completed.
“The process is going very well. Progress has been made in all previous stages, before a final decision is made. They’ve been to town before, they found it comfortable”said the local president in an interview with Blu Radio.

In addition, via its Twitter account, the town hall explained that “There are two routes identified, both are homologated. There is one that is semi-urban. It is still confidential, but it remains in the metropolitan area of Barranquilla, if signed, Formula 1 would arrive at Barranquilla in 2024 or 2025.”

The prize would be self-sufficient and the development of the race would cost neither the country nor the city. On the contrary, the idea is that it brings employment, tourism and recognition to Barranquilla.
