Appearing on the campaign trail of Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and Sen. Chuck Grassley, Trump told a crowd of supporters, “In order to make our country successful and safe and glorious, I’m very, very, very likely to do it again.”

“OK?” he said. “Very, very, very, likely. Get ready, that’s all I’m telling you. Very soon. Get ready.”

Some aides suggested the former president believed announcing his candidacy would protect him from numerous investigations which currently include him and his allies. Trump faces several federal investigations, including the Jan. 6 probe, an investigation into documents found at Mar-a-Lago and an investigation into his social network, Truth Social.

His eponymous family real estate business, The Trump Organization, is currently on trial in New York for tax evasion and fraud — charges that would not affect his re-election as president.

The company has denied wrongdoing.
