Federer’s knee casts doubt on Laver Cup appearance
Many fans had marked on their personal calendar the Laver Cup as an irreplaceable event due to Roger Federer’s return to tennis. However, a setback seemed to postpone the meeting.
According to journalist Simon Graf, the Swiss was training with former player Ivo Heuberger, to whom he is very close, with less intensity than expected. The reason? He retained fluid in his right knee and it swelled again. In this way, the rehabilitation has stopped and the doubts about the participation in London are growing.
After going under the knife three times, Federer has set the weekend of September 23-25 as his return date (albeit unofficial) and Tuesday October 26 (all tickets are already sold out for that day) a meeting with his family at the ATP in Basel.
“How, where and what, I don’t know yet, but I’m hopeful. My intention is that (to play in 2023) and I’m delighted. The next three or four months will be very important,” Roger commented a few days ago. Time and your physique will have the last word.
