Five points Mexico must take into account after the game between Poland and the Netherlands
The Mexican national team’s first rival in Qatar 2022 revealed some weak spots in their UEFA Nations League defeat
Poland lost 0-2 to the Netherlands in UEFA Nations League activity. The Polish team added their fourth consecutive game without knowing the victory and their performance against the Dutch team left several interesting points which Mexico should consider ahead of their Nov. 22 game at Qatar World Cup.
ESPN Digital shares various weak points of Poland after their match against the Netherlands, but also some aspects that might be of interest to Mexican team.
the coach of Poland, Czeslaw Michniewicz, decided to field a line of three defenders consisting of Jakub Kiwior, Kamil Glik and Jan Bednarek. Michniewicz’s bet did not yield the expected results, with A Clockwork Orange constantly arriving in danger in the Polish zone. The first Dutch goal fell as the 13th minute barely flowed and before that the Netherlands had already generated a dangerous opportunity. The Polish defense looked in bad shape to get the ball out and the Dutch more than once took advantage of the spaces left by the central defenders to send screened passes.
POOR OFFENSIVE PLAY
Poland generated his first dangerous game until the 37th minute of the first half. The Polish attack hardly worried the Dutch defense during the first 45 minutes with Robert Lewandowski looking very alone in the attack. In fact, the Barcelona striker touched the ball a few times in the first half and on several occasions he was seen going down the middle of the pitch to help with defensive duties. In the dying minutes of the first half, a play caught the eye in which ‘Lewa’ had the ball in midfield and, visibly upset, he called on his teammates to move in an attempt to generate a dangerous play, but the attacker finishes moving the ball back.
LEWA AND MILIK, A CARE TEAM
Juventus striker Milik entered the game early in the second and Poland managed to show better face with Lewa and Arkadiusz in attack. In the first five minutes of the second half, Poland This generated more danger than in the first half. Without a doubt, Robert and Milik have the ability to generate a lot of danger for a defense of the Mexican team who struggled against fast and physically strong attackers.
ZALEWSKI AND ZIELINSKI COULD BE KEY AGAINST MEXICO
It is true that Poland did not have a good game against the Netherlands, however, Nicola Zalewski and Piotr Zielinski, players of Roma and Napoli, respectively, were the highlights of the Polish team. Zalewski stood out with his high speed down the left flank while Piotr was one of the more dangerous players. The Zalewski and Zielinski association could be a headache for Mexico.
WEAK RESPONSE CAPACITY OF DT
Milik’s entry early in the second half was a good move by Michniewicz with Poland being a little more dangerous, but the ‘Clockwork Orange’ quickly regained control of the game. Michniewicz decided to take his second until the 70th minute, however, the Netherlands continued to dominate the match and Czeslaw did not never managed to find a formula to contain the Dutch attacks or give their players the “tools” to create danger.
