Jets vs. Bills score: Zach Wilson, defense fuel New York’s shock, upset win over Buffalo

Despite their strong start, there were still questions about the legitimacy of Robert Saleh’s New York Jets team entering Sunday’s game against the Bills. Those questions may be gone now, as the Jets cruised to a 20-17 victory over visiting Buffalo for the franchise’s biggest win in a decade as they upset the Patriots to advance to their second straight AFC title game.

Josh Allen’s two interceptions were big in Sunday’s outcome. The picks overshadowed Allen’s two touchdowns, as Buffalo couldn’t hold on to its early 14-3 lead. The Jets’ comeback was led by an opportunistic defense, an efficient running game and the clutch play of quarterback Zach Wilson, who arguably had his best game since arriving in the Big Apple.

Wilson’s go-ahead touchdown, a 7-yard pass to James Robinson, came after Sauce Gardner had the Jets’ second pick on Allen, who was sacked five times by an aggressive Jets defense. Wilson then turned to running backs Robinson and Michael Carter on the Jets’ game-winning drive after the Bills briefly tied the score.

Bryce Huff’s sack of Allen essentially ended the Bills’ hopes of a last-second comeback on their final drive. The win moves the Jets to 6-3, while the Bills fall to 6-2, holding a half-game lead over the Jets and Dolphins in the AFC East standings.

We’ll have a full breakdown in a moment, but in the meantime, check out our live blog below to relive Sunday’s game in real time.
