Kovinic is the beginning of the end for Serena Williams at the US Open

Serena Williams’ first opponent in what should be the last tournament of her career, the US Open, will be Danka Kovinic. If she wins, she could face second seed Anett Kontaveit of Estonia in the second round.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion, who turns 41 on September 26, has announced that she is set to quit her playing career. He didn’t explicitly say when he planned to quit, but hinted that the US Open would mark his farewell. Recall that Williams won the Flushing Meadows tournament six times.
