Mayor Eric Adams boarded the 6 train Monday to show support for daily commuters amid a recent spate of violent incidents on the city’s subway system.
Adams was spotted holding what appeared to be an iPad and his trademark smoothie as he took public transportation to City Hall.
And his journey was filmed by none other than British pop star Lily Allen.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the “Smile” hitmaker, who is married to Stranger Things star David HarborOn Monday, a famous person was spotted.
“Oh hi Eric Adams @nycmayor at 6,” she captioned the shot of Adams, showing him looking up.
The mayor’s MTA ride comes when confronted increasing pressure to act on the rising transit crime plaguing the city.
The mayor at the beginning blamed the media for fueling the “perception” that New York City and its massive subway system are unsafe, despite violent crime rising 39% in August citywide compared to 2019, according to the NYPD.
Over the weekend, Adams held a crime summit at Gracie Mansion, but offered few details for specific action afterward.
“Every time we get into this conversation about the criminal justice system, people bring up one term, and that’s ‘bail reform,'” the mayor said. “There are so many other aspects of the justice system that we could have talked about and talked about.”
The mayor was accused of not doing enough to curb a spike in the crime rate by none other than the grieving mother of a random straphanger pushed onto the subway tracks in Brooklyn and was left traumatized to the point of being suicidal.
Audrey Martin, whose son David Martin, a 32-year-old waiter from the Upper East Side, suffered a broken collarbone and painful bruises in the attack Friday afternoon on the L train platform, told The Post, “Mayor Adams is completely out of touch with what what’s going on.”
“More cops? He’s wrong,” she continued, referring to a plan touted by Adams to flood the Underground with additional NYPD and MTA overtime officers. try to stop the terrifying bloodshed.
“This is a mental health issue,” she said. “We are not dealing with this issue. More overtime is not the answer.”
“Mayor Adams was a police officer. He should know better. It’s all point of view. We have a city in crisis. We have a mental health crisis,” she added.
The mayor and governor’s plan includes new 25-bed units in two local psychiatric facilities for the homeless mentally ill. It also calls for police and other emergency responders to receive training on how to best transport the mentally ill from the subway to psychiatric care.
