ATLANTA — After more than 2.5 million Georgians went to the polls early in the 2022 midterm elections, polling places across the state saw a steady influx of in-person voters on Election Day.

Many polling stations reported little or no waiting time to vote.

All eyes are on Georgia in this election, with a Senate race that could determine the balance of power in Congress and a rematch between incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp and Stacey Abrams generating national interest.

DeKalb County election officials are extending voting hours at Solid Rock AME Church until 7:39 p.m

Georgia polling stations process voters in about 49 seconds, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.

State officials predict they could hit 2 million voters on Election Day, compared to the 2.5 million Georgians who already voted early.

A judge agreed to allow a private courier to deliver more than 100 Cobb County absentee ballots overnight yesterday after 1,000 ballots were not mailed. Voters should vote by 5 p.m

Two Cobb County precincts will remain open past 7 p.m. following a delay in opening for the general election. Hours at the Kennesaw 3A stop at the Ben Robertson Community Center have been extended to 7:45 p.m. Hours of Operation at the Oregon 03 Station at the Fair Oaks Community Center will accept in-person voting until 7:06 p.m.

12:10 in the afternoon

Gabriel Sterling of the Georgia Secretary of State’s office said in a tweet that the average time to vote in Georgia was about 3 minutes before noon. The longest line is in Stephens County and takes 13 minutes. Most polling stations do not wait at all.

Two election workers were fired in Johns Creek about 15 minutes before the polls opened after a mother and son exchanged “relationship” posts on social media. Fulton County Election Officials did not disclose the nature of the concern.
