Official: Marcelo arrives at Olympiacos in Greece
MArcelo has finally defined its future. The historic Brazilian player will now change his path to football in Greecewhere to play with Olympiacos.
“It is a pleasure to announce the arrival of a true legend like Marcello” The Hellenic team spoke on its social networks welcoming the 34-year-old Brazilian footballer. He signed for one season, until June 30, 2023, plus one optional.
Marcelo thus fulfills one of his great wishes when he left the white team this summer: to continue in Europe. Many were the proposals that came to him during a long summer in which he kept quiet and trained hard to arrive at his new destination in the best shape possible.
The player born in Rio de Janeiro thus begins a new professional adventure after 16 seasons with the current champion of the Champions, where he left his mark as the most successful footballer in the entity’s history. Olympiacos will be, after Fluminense and Real Madrid itself, the third professional team of his career.
In those 16 years he played 546 games with the Madrid team, scoring 38 goals, and became one of the best footballers in his history and with an enviable record that includes five Champions, six Leagues, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, two Copa del Rey and five Spanish Super Cups.
A club with a “Spanish flavor” which will play in the Europa League
In the Greek team, Marcelo meets ex-LaLiga footballers… and it will also be led by a Spanish coach: Carlos Corbern. The 39-year-old Valencian arrived this Huddersfield Town summer, who was on the verge of promotion to the Premier League.
In the model there are also old acquaintances from our football such as Vaclik (former Sevilla), Vrsaljko (former Atltico), Pipa (former Espanyol), Kunde (former Atltico, Extremadura and Granada), Pep Biel (ex from Zaragoza), Konrad de la Fuente (ex from Bara) and El Arabi (ex from Granada).
This season they will play the UEFA Europa League, where they have been framed in the Group G alongside Qarabag, Friborg and Nantes.
