Pennsylvania Senate race: Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz takes lead over Democrat John Fetterman in new poll

Dr. Mehmet Oz, a Republican candidate at a crucial stage The race for the US Senate in Pennsylvania, just surpassed Democrat John Fetterman, Pennsylvania Lt. Govt., for the first time in statewide support among likely voters, according to a new poll.

On November 3, RealClearPolitics had Oz’s approval rating at 46.6%, while Fetterman’s post-debate approval rating continues to drop, now at 46.3%; the difference is within the margin of error.

Oz’s lead is the first since it has trailed since the candidates won the May 2022 primary. Fetterman once had an 8.7-point lead over Oz in August, when Oz had just 39% support.

RealClearPolitics continues to rank the election as a “throwback,” but Republican projects retaining control of the seat currently held by Senator Pat Toomey. On October 5, 2020, the current president announced that he will not run for re-election to the Senate.

Fetterman’s dwindling support can undoubtedly be traced to his performance in the debate on October 25, when the two candidates faced off in their only debate.

Many people on social media and in polls say that Oz offered a clear message about how to improve Pennsylvania.

Critics also suggested that Fetterman, who suffered a stroke in May, struggled to effectively answer questions on multiple occasions and appeared to struggle with auditory processing, which was affected by the stroke. The host of the debate agreed to allow subtitles to help him better.

Of those who watched the debate, USA Today and Suffolk University found that 62% said Oz was the winner. Seventeen percent of those polled said Fetterman was the winner.

FETTERMAN LOSES SUPPORT IN PENNSYLVANIA SENATE RACE AFTER DEBATE, POLL SHOWS

A USA Today poll in September showed Fetterman leading 46%-40%, but a post-debate poll, 27-30. October, showed Fetterman’s lead narrowing to 47%-45%, within the poll’s margin of error of 4.4%.

The same September poll showed Fetterman leading 43% to 29%. independent voters, but now Oz leads 43%-32%.

Many other polls, including Fox News’ own poll, as well as USAToday, the New York Times/Siena, CBS News and Rassmussen have Fetterman in the lead.

Although primary voter turnout is not an indicator of general election turnout, more voters supported Republican candidates than their Democratic counterparts on May 17, 2022 – 1,346,091 votes to 1,284,908.

The Senate race in Pennsylvania is a big contest that could ultimately decide whether Democrats hold their majority in the House or if the Republicans take the lead.
