Titans’ Ryan Tannehill sick; Malik Willis to start against the Texans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehillwho missed the second straight day of practice on Saturday with a stomach bug, has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Houston Texans.

Rookie quarterback Malik Willis took most of the first team’s practice snaps this week and will make his first NFL start against the Texans. The Titans also drafted a quarterback Logan Woodside from training on Saturday.

Tannehill has started 49 consecutive games for the Titans, a franchise record for a quarterback.

He was already dealing with a sprained ankle suffered in the fourth quarter of last week’s win against Indianapolis Colts. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday before missing Friday’s practice and Saturday’s practice.

Willis was selected by the Titans in the third round of the 2022 draft.

“Being ready is probably my best bet,” Willis said Friday.”You have to prepare like you’re going to be the starter every week.”

Willis has one completion for 6 yards on four attempts this season.
