US Open 2022: Serena and Venus Williams will play doubles together for the first time since 2018
Lhe sisters Serena and Venus Williams received an invitation letter from the US Open this Saturday to participate together in the doubles tournament which will mark their back on the slopes as a team for the first time since 2018.
It was the 2018 Roland Garros the last time Serena and Venus competed together and in this case they would stop in the third round, when they fell to Spain’s María José Martínez Sánchez and Slovenia’s Andreja Klepac . Serena and Venus have won fourteen doubles majors together, including the 1999 and 2009 US Opens.
This will likely be Serena’s last appearance in New York, after the 40-year-old veteran recently announced that she was ready to quit tennis, suggesting it would be after the US Open.
Serena Williams became a professional tennis player at the age of 14. He has won 23 Grand Slam singles tournaments. In In 2002, he won his first Roland Garros by precisely beating his sister Venus, and that same year he won his first Wimbledon. Serena Williams has won the Australian Open seven times, Wimbledon seven times, US Open six times and Roland Garros three times.
Venus, 42, has won seven singles majors, with five Wimbledons and two US Opens. The “big” New Yorker will be held from August 29 to September 11.
