World Series 2022: Schedule, How to Watch, Odds

The leaves are falling, the temperatures are dropping, Halloween is approaching…and the Philadelphia Phillies are still playing baseball.

They will now play in November against the Houston Astros after they advanced to their first World Series in 13 years on Sunday.

The Phillies, who earned a Wild Card berth with an 87-75 upset of the defending champion Atlanta Braves in the NLDS to beat the San Diego Padres in the eighth inning on Sunday, give home advantage led by Bryce Harper in Game 5 of the NLCS. Philadelphia returned to the Fall Classic for the first time in two consecutive appearances in 2008 and 2009. The Phillies are seeking their third championship, having won in 1980 and 2008.

The Astros were 106-56 this season before sweeping the Seattle Mariners in the ALDS and New York Yankees in the ALCS. The Astros – returning to the World Series for the second year in a row and the fourth time in six seasons – are seeking their second championship in franchise history. That 2017 title, however, was tainted by a cheating scandal that led to a $5 million fine, the loss of a draft pick and a season-long suspension and the eventual firings of manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow.

The 2022 World Series is guaranteed to be played in November and, because of the lockout on that delayed Opening Day, there could be a late date for the World Series if it goes that far. The last World Series game played was on November 4, 2001 and again in 2009. Last year’s World Series between the Astros and Braves ended on November 2.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 World Series.
